Overview/Objectives/Disclosure:
Care of the patient with inflammatory bowel disease is becoming more complicated. As medicine develops a better understanding of the pathophysiology of the inflammatory response, patients are presented with an array of new and old medical therapies. Surgical therapy has also expanded to offer many different options. Increasingly recognized is the importance of emotional and social factors in the care of these patients. This conference, New Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, is intended for physicians, nurses, social workers, and other involved in the care of patients with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. This course brings together the practitioner and some of the leading experts in the management of patients with these disorders. The program consists of plenary talks with an extensive case presentation segment which will explore diverse issues in the management of these patients.
